When it comes to family trips abroad I always take into consideration five key factors; good weather, a beach, delicious food, beautiful architecture and the duration of the flight. Short haul destinations are always in plus in my books and travelling with my nieces and nephews on a long haul flight can sometimes be a pain, so… the shorter the duration of the flight, the better. With this in mind and summer holidays around the corner, I want to share with you one of my favourite family friendly summer spots – Pula, Croatia.

If you haven’t yet had the chance to visit Pula than quite frankly, you’re missing out.

What drew me to explore Croatia in the first place was the warm weather, beautiful beaches and the budget friendliness! You can catch a direct flight from London Heathrow to Pula for less than £39 with British Airways. Sound too good to be true? I’ve got more for you.

Pula is located along the coast of Croatia which means there’s loads of time to ease yourself into the clear and warm waters. You can find the best beaches located in Banjole, Fazana and Punta Verduela which will give you plenty of water sports options if you’re feeling a bit adventurous.

The most distinct icon in Pula is the Amphitheatre which is locally known as the area. It is from the first century and one of the best preserved arenas in the world. the Pula Film Festival is held inside the arena every summer and makes a great family day out and a very cool history lesson for everyone. The rest of Pula city has more ancient structures which are nice to walk around and snap a photo of here and there.

For family fun, Pula has you sorted. Aside from the glistening beaches and beautiful architecture there are plenty of hotels with swimming pools and sport courts to occupy the younger members of the family. Did I mention that Pula has an incredible aquarium? Kids love it and so do I. Taking a bike ride around the city or heading to the go-karting tracks is also a great option to keep everyone busy.

In terms of places to stay, there are plenty of modern family friendly hotels located in fantastic areas which you can book as a package on the British Airways website. If you would like some more space to yourself or you’re thinking of travelling in a larger group you can always look into family apartments. One of my favourite places to stay is the Horizont Resort as it’s only steps away from the beach. Typical!

Now, the best part… Food. When you travel to Pula you will taste some of the best food you’ve ever tried. You’ll be sitting in the sun, soaking up the views of the sea and scenery and then suddenly, you’ll start to understand why I said food was the best part. Along with traditional pasta, you will discover delicious seafood, stews, pastries and desserts. Basically, you won’t go hungry.

To book your trip to Pula, visit the British Airways website here.

Guys, lets talk Zumba.

As you know, my blog posts are usually quite short but due to the context of this post, it’s going to be pretty lengthy, so grab a coffee, sit back and read your heart out.

I attended Zumba’s 10 Year Instructor Convention trip in Orlando this year as I knew I wanted to become an Instructor. The trip confirmed to me that this was something I definitely wanted to do, especially after meeting and hearing so many people’s stories. You can watch more about my trip on my YouTube channel here.

When I first started Zumba my aim was to lose weight, which is pretty much the same reason as majority of people. I remember my first class like it was yesterday… I was pretty shy – I know what you’re thinking… “Laila, shy? Never.” But seriously, the thought of dancing with a group of strangers terrified me. I was ashamed of my body at the time and my confidence was pretty much non-existent so taking the step to sign up for a Zumba class was completely out of my comfort zone.

As everyone huddled into the class, I found a space right at the back. People were clearly familiar with one another as they chatted amongst themselves. A few moments later the Zumba instructor introduced herself and the class had begun! The class was amazing – it was the least judgmental atmosphere that I’ve ever been in. Nobody was looking at how big or thin you were or who was the best dancer, each person had a huge smile on their face the whole class and was drenched in sweat when we finished… That’s when I knew that losing weight could actually be fun?!

I continued to religiously attend my Zumba classes each week. I got better and better at dancing, I felt better about myself and my confidence was growing. It was a win/win. Since starting Zumba along with changing my lifestyle and being a more active person, I have lost over 11 stone! That’s literally like a whole other person!

There are so many reasons as to why I love Zumba, one of the main reasons is that it doesn’t feel like a boring workout. I love how unique Zumba is, we use music from all across the world… I mean, c’mon where else are you able to dance to salsa, bollywood, merengue, reggaeton, African, hip-hop, cambia and bhangra all in one class?! Zumba is also a great class to go to with your friends and like I mentioned earlier Zumba is for anyone, you can be any shape or size, male or female… it doesn’t matter. Lastly, Zumba is officially the best form of cardio, the amount of calories you can burn in a Zumba class is insane!

I’ll be posting on here very soon about when my first class is… I’m a little nervous. Ok, a little is an understatement but I’m looking forward to it! Stay posted!

Hay muchas razones de por qué me encanta Zumba, por lo que decidieron lista de unos pocos;

Mantenerse informados!

// Topdeck Trip To Ibiza

1 Country and 6 stops with a group of strangers sounds like a crazy trip right? Well, let me tell you… It was a trip to remember!

A few weeks ago I went on my first ever Topdeck Travel trip to sail around Ibiza. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Topdeck Travel, they provide travel experiences for 18 to 30 somethings throughout Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, the Middle East and now ASIA!! If you’re like me and want to explore then Topdeck Travel is definitely for you. They have so many excursions to offer, from camping to island hopping – they’ve got you covered, it’s a great way to tick things off of your bucket list.

So, let’s talk about my experience! As you know, Ibiza is famously known for it’s buzzing party scene which is all well and good, but it’s a shame that not many people are aware of all the beautiful surroundings that Ibiza has to offer. After a short flight, I landed in the early hours of the morning then headed to the docks to meet my shipmates, unpack my suitcase and set sail for the island of Espalmador. Before any sailing, we had a delicious breakfast onboard the boat and soaked in the sun rays while we all introduced ourselves. My shipmates were amazing, we were all so different but everyone got along like starbucks lovers! Day 1 was really chilled out and was all about getting to know each other and taking advantage of swimming in the turquoise waters.

For the rest of the trip we sailed to Formentera, Cala Bassa, Cala Jondal and Cala D’Hort, we explored each place one by one. The whole trip was filled with nonstop laughter, swimming, tons of photos memories, diving, delicious meals, great company… We watched the sunsets turn our blue surroundings into a purple/pink haze everyday, it was breathtaking. We had our Dora the Explorer moments like visiting one of the most magnetic places on earth! (yes, fo’real.) You can also watch a funny video of our trip here, where you’ll see me attempting to kayak and doing awfully bad… I honestly tried my best… it just wasn’t good enough!

The video speaks for itself, so I’ll leave you all to watch them and relive the Topdeck Travel journey with us! I can’t wait for my next Topdeck Travel trip and will be sure to vlog/blog every moment!
